The Orthopaedic Implant Company Introduces Value-Based Flex-Fix™ System for Ankle Syndesmotic Repair

Innovative Flex-Fix™ System Simplifies Procedure and Reduces Costs for Ankle Injury Treatments

RENO, Nev., July 30, 2024–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The Orthopaedic Implant Company (OIC) today announced the launch of its latest innovation in orthopaedic care – the OIC Flex-Fix™ System. This value-based system is specially designed for the treatment of syndesmotic injuries, a common yet challenging ankle injury that results from extreme rotation or rolling of the ankle.

The Flex-Fix™ System marks a significant enhancement to OIC’s value-based portfolio, now providing for the treatment of syndesmotic injuries, which may occur with or without accompanying ankle fractures. The Flex-Fix™ System is versatile, designed for use either in conjunction with a bone plate or as a standalone solution. This flexibility in application ensures that a wider range of indications can be addressed resulting in better value for more of these procedure types.

“The Flex-Fix™ System is a leap forward in treating syndesmotic injuries with a value-based mindset. It represents OIC’s commitment to innovation, patient care and cost-effectiveness,” said Itai Nemovicher, CEO of the Orthopaedic Implant Company. “By simplifying the procedure and reducing the need for additional hardware, Flex-Fix™ is set to drastically reduce costs for patients and healthcare facilities, while maintaining our high standards of care.”

Flex-Fix™ System allows for micromotion during the healing process, designed by OIC to mimic natural joint mechanics. The resulting design gives way to a more natural and effective recovery. Additionally, the system significantly minimizes the risk of hardware removal, a common issue associated with traditional rigid screw fixation.

“The design of the Flex-Fix™ System is centered around patient safety and surgical efficiency,” explained Keli Tokunaga, Associate Engineer for OIC. “Its low-profile design is critical for minimizing tissue impingement and enhancing patient comfort. The deployment mechanism is meticulously engineered for precision and control, while eliminating the need for a medial incision.”

The OIC Flex-Fix™ System is commercially available in the United States. For more information, please visit www.orthoimplantcompany.com.
